What can I improve on my blog??
Do you think the silk road was a good idea for trade?? Why or why not?? What do you think they could have done diffrent?
If you lived in ancient China would you use the silk road for trade? Why or why not?

What things were traded on the Silk Road?

Many Many things were traded on the silk road. People could trade goods that they made, farmed or raised. There were of course the common goods that they traded like silk (of course), spices, teas, porcelain, and lacqerware. Horses, wools, silver, and gold were also traded for silk and other goods from China. NOT a fair trade if you ask me. China also gained stone metals like jade, ivory, and coal. another thing that was "traded" on the Silk Road was ideas. Buddism was an idea passed along through the Silk Road. Sounds like gossip:)

What was the Silk Road like??

The route of the silk road is over 7,000 miles long. It had a number of branches that went out to diffrent locations. From the sky it must have looked like a huge drawing of a tree. Along the sides of the road there were buddist temples and shirines built. When people traveled the silk road they rarely traveled the whole distance (that would have taken foreeeeever!!!) The silk road was first used around 300BC and trade was conducted by the middle man meaning that the two traders wouldn't even see each other most of the time. Isn't that like taking food from a STRANGER!!!

How was the Silk road used??

The Silk Road was used for two main reasons. Neither of  them are really silk related. The main thing it was used for was trading. People would travel along it to trade with other people and get the goods that they needed in turn for the goods other people wanted that they had. Another reason people used the silk road was for delivering products for trade to other towns along the routes. When people did both of these things they would take caravans which made it easier and safer for travel.
